Barbie Pink

by | 20 Jul 2023

Unless you have been living under a rock for the last couple of months, it won’t have escaped your notice that the hugely anticipated (or massively hyped!) Barbie movie is due to be released tomorrow.

So, whether she was your dressing up doll of choice, or if Sindy, Pippa or Bratz were more your thing, there is likely to be an explosion of all things pink this weekend!

The fashion press have been discussing this topic for weeks, so here are my musings on this fabulous colour…

Barbie Pink and other Options…

Traditional pinks such as fuchsia, pastel, rose, bubblegum, magenta, and mauve, are all cool colours. Therefore, if your skin has a warm undertone, you are best to stick to coral, salmon or apricot shades.

Psychologically pink is seen as approachable, empathetic, caring, feminine and youthful, however, be warned, the brighter and deeper shades are closer to red’s more intense characteristics.

If you want to learn more about the fabulous world of colour psychology and how to use it, check out my blog or buy a copy of my favourite colour psychology book – The Little Book of Colour by Karen Haller

The association of pink being for girls and blue for boys is actually a fairly recent phenomenon – only adopted in the mid-20th century, before that the opposite was true!

I will be channelling my inner Barbie today and wearing my favourite pink blouse!

Do you ever wear pink?
